Uber Eats Mexico

It's been a while since I've written on here and I will get back to the Dragon Mobile review soonish. I have been wondering about Uber Eats for some time now. I love the UBER taxi service and have been a fan since my first trip in 2013. So far, May has been a scorcher here in CDMX and I did not want to step out into the heat yet again.

In all honesty, my first alternative to the traditional pizza delivery option was trying out for a second time the delivery system offered in the city by KFC Mexico. I was in the mood for some extra krispy chicken after a long week of healthy eating and running an average 6km per day. Yes, that was me bragging on my running.

Anyway, I called like I had the time before and ordered a family pack so I could share the leftovers with my brother/roommate. I am told my meal will be delivered within 45 minutes. Perfectly reasonable in my opinion. Fast forward an hour into my wait. I receive a call telling me that there is going to be a delay due to one of their delivery people having an issue. I am then asked whether I want to keep my order or cancel it. Since this same thing happened a year before I opted to cancel. I am then told that if I could please call the order number I had called before to process my cancellation. I then opt to wait the extra 25-35 minutes instead of cancelling. I wait another 35 minutes...I then call the line to cancel the order. Five minutes later I receive a call from what I assume is their control office. They still think I have an order pending and ask me whether I'll be paying with cash or card. I had previously told them I wanted to pay with card. I let the operator know that I have cancelled my order. Horrible experience really but I ordered before I was hungry to avoid getting Hangry over any delays. I truly like KFC as a restaurant but have been burned twice by their delivery service that well literally doesn't deliver.

I decide to try the Uber Eats application. I had previously downloaded it in anticipation for the need of a food delivery service. I see on the main screen that you get 150 pesos towards your first delivery similar to their promo on their taxi service.

I first tried ordering from Taco Naco but for some reason after waiting about 15 minutes my order was cancelled.

As you can see I went for an ribeye steak and with the promo it would have cost me only 20 pesos with the delivery charge included. I thought well I gave the KFC a second chance why not Uber Eats. I decided to go for something healthier since the universe had denied me twice on fattier options. I decide to order from a Salmon Pasta dish from a restaurant called Franca Bistro

I waited a few moments for my order to be confirmed...

I got the confirmation that and my food was being prepared.

Then it my order was on it's way.

I then received a call from the delivery person just before he got here to see if I wanted him to come up or if I would prefer to come down. I told him I would come down...had to do some physical activity today.

Just like that I had my french dinner delivered. I am happy to say that it was an overall good experience with Uber Eats. Still not sure why my first order was cancelled but it was probably for the best. I will review the restaurant on a different post soonish.
